Strip Videos
The Strip Videos were presented at the Eavesdrop Contemporary Electronic Music Festival, 3rd edition, in 2024, for the first time as a triptych.
The Strip Videos are inspired by the films of Stan Brakhage, a filmmaker who started creating abstract films in the 1960's working into the 1990's. He manipulated the celluloid directly, often with paint. Enamored with Brakhage's films and process I asked myself what would be the digital equivalent, being that my tools are digital. I arrived at taking a photograph and stretching it into a strip and panning that strip from top to bottom. This distortion and cropped viewing produces the abstract imagery in the videos. The source photographs for the videos in the Eavesdrop presentation are from the streets of Berlin.
